Make Sure Your Catch is Sustainable

With the change in climate, over fishing is threatening the world’s fish supplies. Diseases and parasites from farmed fish can spread to the wild species. Some farmers use antibiotics to control disease , which can only foster the growth of drug resistant bacteria as well.
A better, abundance and biodiversity is possible among eating fish. If work is done to restore marine environments through pollution controls, strict fishing quotas, and a careful ecosystem management, it can be achieved. When buying seafood, look for wild-caught or farmed fish from operations that don’t use any antibiotics or supplemental hormones.
To get your four ounces of omega-3 fatty acids through fish twice a weeks here are the most sustainable choices throughout the U.S.:

Earthly Eating Recipe
Pressed Waffle Panini
Serves: 4
8 (1 to 1.5 oz.) Italian soy sausage
1/3 cup apricot jam
1/4 cup reduced-fat mayonnaise
1 1/2 tsp. freshly chopped thyme, or 1/2 tsp. dried thyme
1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
8 frozen multigrain waffles
4 tbs. oil-packed sun-dried tomatoes, drained and chopped
1 1/2 cups Aragua
4 1-oz. slices Gruyere cheese (about 3/8-inch thick and 3 1/2 -inches square)
Heat countertop or stovetop grill. Cook sausage in a microwave according to package directions, slice in half lengthwise, then cut each slice in half. Combine jam, mayonnaise, thyme, and black pepper in bowl.
Toast the waffles according to package directions. Spread 1 tbs. jam mixture on each waffles. Sprinkle sun-dried tomatoes over 4 waffles, and top with arugula. Top with cheese and soy sausages, then the 4 remaining waffles.
Coat heat grill with cooking spray. Grill sandwiches 3 to 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted. Cut in half and then serve immediately.
